Waverley Place

Built in 1847, Waverley Place Museum boasts a lavish Edwardian interior including furnished period rooms and is surrounded by extensive gardens and grounds. Nestled in the heart of beautiful Bowmanville, Ontario, this historically designated home is a picturesque, historic venue ideal for intimate wedding ceremonies and wedding photography. Small ceremonies can be held inside the restored parlour or outside on the large veranda or surrounding grounds.

Waverley Place Museum offers a beautiful and unique backdrop for your special union. Ceremonies of 15 people or smaller can be held in our historic parlour, or outdoors on our expansive grounds if you have a larger guest list. The venue features multiple interior photography spaces, including a furnished period dining room, an exquisite staircase and upper hallway, as well as a stunning glass conservatory.

Photography sessions are available in the following rooms: historic parlour, dining room, conservatory, staircase, and upper hallway.

Ceremonies of 15 people or smaller, can be arranged in the historic parlour.

There are no public washroom facilities available in the historic building, however, arrangements can be made for washroom access in the Sarah Jane Williams Heritage Centre which is conveniently located on the same property.

What is the capacity of the venue?

  • Interior: Up to 15 people maximum for small ceremonies or photography sessions
  • Exterior: up to 100 people maximum

Are washrooms available on-site?

  • There are no public washroom facilities available in the historic building, however, arrangements can be made for washroom access in the Sarah Jane Williams Heritage Centre which is conveniently located on the same property.

Are tables, chairs, or tents available for rent?

  • No, CLMA only provides the venue. Any additional equipment, including but not limited to tables, chairs, tents, and decorations excluding of the artifacts already present within the historic home, is the responsibility of those booking the venue.

  • We kindly ask that you refrain from using confetti or flower petals inside.
  • For the safety of everyone, candles or flames of any kind are not allowed.
  • Museum staff members are available to guide the movement of artifacts, if needed.
  • Museum staff should be on-site when site/doors are unlocked for the safety of the artifacts/building.
  • Waverley Place maintains a smoke, food, and alcohol-free environment indoors.

Standard Hours:

  • Weekdays: 8:30am-4:30pm

Extended Hours:

  • Weekday evenings: 4:30-8pm
  • Weekends: 9am-8pm

Please note: statutory holidays are not available for bookings

Interior Events, Historic House

  • Standard Hours:
    • $125/hour; or
    • $450 for 4 hours, additional $100/hour
  • Extended Hours:
    • $150/hour (minimum of 2 hours required); or
    • $550 for 4 hours, additional $100/hour

Exterior Events, Grounds including Verandah

  • Standard Hours:
    • $125/hour; or
    • $450 for 4 hours, additional $100/hour
  • Extended Hours:
    • $150/hour (minimum of 2 hours required); or
    • $550 for 4 hours, additional $100.hour
  • Please note: rates are for the venue only. Tent, chair, and other rentals must be arranged separately.

Interior Use, Historic House - Photos Only

  • Standard Hours: $125/hour
  • Extended Hours: $300 for 2 hours (2 hour minimum required)
  • Please note: includes parlour, dining room, conservatory, upper hallway, and library only.

Exterior Use, Grounds including Verandah - Photos Only

  • Standard, Extended Hours: $65 photography permit
  • Please note: for exterior photography only; does not include interior access to the historic house.
