The Kirby Church opened its doors on November 21st, 1880 as a Wesleyan Methodist Church. For 123 years, this handsome brick Church served the surrounding community as a place of worship. In 2003, the membership of the Kirby United Church made the sad decision to close the church. In an effort to ensure that the memory and history of the Church is preserved for future generations, the membership voted to offer the Church and its chattels to Clarington Museums and Archives with the stipulation that it be moved to museum property.
Join us in The Metre March and purchase metres to move the Kirby Church to its new location at the Clarke Museum. Your contribution to The Metre March will be acknowledged in our stone walkway to the church with your commemoration and the metres that you moved the church to its new location at Clarke Museum.
